Annual Appeal

Supporting every aspect of St. Bernard Preparatory School and St. Bernard Abbey, making a gift to the Annual Appeal directly impacts the students and monks of St. Bernard. The Annual Appeal goal is set at $400,000 annually with the School and Abbey each including 50% of this goal as a line item in their operating budgets which follow St. Bernard’s fiscal year, July 1 – June 30.

Autumn Appeal

The Autumn Appeal plays a crucial role in keeping St. Bernard Prep financially healthy. This and other fundraising drives help us provide financial assistance to families who are unable to pay the full tuition rate.

Summer Appeal

The Summer Appeal has helped St. Bernard make significant progress in the expansion and upkeep of the wonderful heritage that is part of the St. Bernard experience. Each summer a specific project is undertaken to improve the campus, expand facilities, increase technology, and enhance programs.

Giving Day

Giving Day is a 24-hour fundraising event. All alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, family, and friends of St. Bernard are welcome and encouraged to participate. The goal is to engage our community to advance the mission of the school while raising critical funding to ensure we continue to build upon our legacy of providing a quality education to our students.

30 Days of Gratitude

30 Days of Gratitude is a small, autumn campaign that celebrates St. Bernard and its most important asset — our people. In the month leading up to Giving Tuesday, we ask our monks, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and friends, “Why are YOU grateful for St. Bernard?”

Anniversary Campaign for St. Bernard

Since 1891, St. Bernard Abbey and Preparatory School has fostered a community of faith and scholarship not only for the local community but across the United States and around the world. Our current capital campaign will help continue our legacy of educational excellence, allow us to intentionally steward our resources, inspire and encourage the next generations of monks and students, and preserve our 800-acre campus for the future of St. Bernard.

The Clairvaux Society

The Clairvaux Society is one of the most prestigious organizations of St. Bernard. The Society honors our donors of any age who remember St. Bernard through wills, planned gifts, and estate plans of any size.

Educational Foundation

The St. Bernard Educational Foundation, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, allows deserving students with financial need to attend St. Bernard Preparatory School. Gifts made to the Foundation provide need-based scholarships to students, awarded annually. Scholarship recipients are required to meet and maintain both the high academic and behavioral standards of the School.

Designated Gifts

Designated gifts provide donors with an opportunity to designate their gift for a specific program, project, item, event, etc. not included in other available giving areas. These gifts provide for the overall good of the School and Abbey.

Matching Gifts

Many corporations match their employee’s charitable gifts. Matching gifts can allow you to double or even triple your gift to St. Bernard – qualifying you for a higher giving level when your company matches your gift. Please contact your human resources department and request a matching gift form to be completed and returned to St. Bernard.

Gifts In-Kind

Since then it has remained strong because of the St. Bernard Family: alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and friends of the School and Abbey that want to see our good work continue. Without this kind and generous support St. Bernard would be unable to realize our mission of educating young men and women in the Benedictine tradition.

Major donors and grant foundations often look at our percentage of giving among our board members, faculty/staff, current parents, alumni, alumni families, and friends of the School and Abbey. Our giving level often helps determine whether a gift or grant award to St. Bernard is a wise investment. Donors and foundations want to invest in an organization, like St. Bernard, that invests in itself.

Your gift, no matter the amount, truly generates lasting impact for St. Bernard. A gift of any size is always appreciated. Last year, gifts to St. Bernard of $500 or less accounted for 95% of all gifts received. As 501(c)(3) organizations, your gifts to St. Bernard Abbey and Preparatory School are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
