Clubs are meant to be simple fun, with an unexpected twist. Teachers, not students, share a hobby or activity close to their heart.
Club membership is open to all grades, so students meet new people. “It’s a great way to build community,” explains Sr. Therese, L.I.H.M. She is in charge of Campus Ministry, and is the advisor for a Crochet Club, one of the few clubs open only to young women.
"It's more than learning to crochet," explains Sr. Therese. She wanted to provide a space where young women can talk about matters of the heart, a place to bond. She plays worship music as students sit in a circle, crocheting. "That setting leads to all sorts of unexpected conversations." Sr. Therese admitted their time together often includes talk about boys, “Because that is where they are in life!”
Photography is another popular choice, where students learn and practice the art. A number of students have earned recognition and awards for their work.
Clubs periodically change with the interests of teachers and students.
Make new friends, learn something interesting, and develop skills.
